About Quintaro

A Practice Built on Listening

Quintaro was founded on the observation that the most consequential decisions in an organisation are often the loneliest to make. We exist to sit alongside that loneliness.

Our Story

How Quintaro Came to Be

Quintaro was established in Singapore by a small group of people who had each spent years in senior advisory roles within large institutions. What they shared, beyond technical capability, was a growing discomfort with the pace and format of most consulting engagements — the hurried deliverables, the pre-packaged frameworks, the recommendations written before the listening had truly begun.

The practice was formed around a different premise: that the most useful thing a consultant can offer is not an answer, but a considered process of inquiry. The name Quintaro — drawn from the idea of a fifth room, a spare and quiet space set apart from the main house — reflects this intention. We offer a room for thinking, not a room full of slides.

Since opening our doors at Raffles Place, we have worked with founders navigating exit and succession, family businesses untangling governance questions that had accumulated over decades, and leadership teams arriving at a retreat unsure of the question they were there to answer. In each case, the work has been to slow down before moving forward.

How We Work

Standards We Hold Ourselves To

Strict Confidentiality

Nothing discussed in our engagements is shared, referenced, or written about in any identifiable form. This is not a policy position — it is the only basis on which the work can function.

No Conflict of Interest

We do not hold commercial relationships with referral sources and do not benefit from any recommendation we might make. Our only interest is in the quality of the thinking.

Written Reflection as Standard

Every engagement includes a written document. Not a report with recommendations, but a careful record of the conversations and the questions they raised — prepared within a week of the engagement.

Practitioner-Level Experience

Our consultants bring direct experience from senior advisory and leadership roles — not academic frameworks alone. We know what it is like to sit with a difficult decision and have to move.

Bounded Scope

Each engagement has a clear beginning and end. We do not expand scope without discussion, and we do not create dependency. When the engagement is complete, it is complete.

Preparation as Respect

We read carefully before we arrive. Whether it is a Quiet Counsel Session or a Pavilion Retreat, the consultant comes to the engagement having thought about it — not improvising from general knowledge.

Our Approach

Consulting That Serves the Decision, Not the Engagement

Quintaro operates at the intersection of senior leadership consulting and what might be called dialogue facilitation — a space that is genuinely underserved in Singapore's professional services market. The large strategy houses are well-suited to transformation programmes and market analyses. They are less well-suited to the singular, often personal decision that a founder or director is turning over at two in the morning.

Our practice is deliberately small. We take on a limited number of engagements each quarter so that the work receives proper attention. When a Quiet Counsel Session is scheduled, the consulting day belongs to that person. When a Stewardship Review is underway, the six weeks are structured around that family's particular situation, not a standard methodology applied uniformly.

We operate from Raffles Place and work across Singapore and Southeast Asia, with occasional engagements in London and Hong Kong for long-standing clients. Our client base includes family-owned businesses across second and third generation transitions, founders of mid-sized companies considering their next chapter, and senior leadership teams in financial services, professional services, and the built environment sector.

The quality we are most frequently recognised for — and the one we take most seriously — is the ability to ask questions that the client had not yet thought to ask themselves. That capacity comes from preparation, from experience, and from a practice of genuine listening that does not arrive at the answer before the conversation is finished.
